One of the things that the RTX 5070 will get you that you can’t find on the RTX 4070 Super is DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, or MFG for short. It’s a bit of a controversial feature for some; complaints about “fake frames” on the one hand and the introduction of input latency on the other.

I’ve tested all of these cards extensively. I mean for hundreds of, if not over a thousand, hours this year alone, and of the two complaints, only the second is one I’d be genuinely concerned with.

MFG makes games look fantastic on hardware that would normally not be able to run them, but since inputs are only read during those frames that are directly rendered by the GPU, rather than those generated in between rendered frames, there *can* be a disconnect between what you are seeing and the responsiveness of your input and how you see it play out on your display.

What matters here, honestly, is your minimum frame rate. If you can get your minimum FPS above 45 or so, you will not “feel” any latency from MFG in just about any game other than a competitive shooter like Valorant. For every other kind of game though, MFG is a genuinely impressive tech in practice. Do I think it’s worth upgrading from an RTX 4070 or better? Absolutely not. But if you’re rocking an RTX 30 series or older, the RTX 5070 is going to feel like a revelation.
